Alternative seat choices.

Given that my stock SVO seats are pretty much hammered from use and auto accident damage, what alternatives has anyone used that would bolt in?

While I'm not thrilled by the increase in weight, I'd even look at a later model Mustang seat with power and heating. Again, has anyone spent any time looking in to this? Is anything up to a 2004 close to a bolt in? I've even seen mention of using Explorer seats.

I haven't weighed the stock Seats but heard they were 75lbs a piece! If that is the case just about anything is going to be lighter. I have been looking at the 03 Cobra seats with power lately. The heat is easy to add, sitting on some right now and it does feel good! The Cobra seats in Gray suede look good in the Svo and so does the anniversary Gray/black with a red insert. The SVTperformance web site has seats every few days it seems. As a side note the grey suede is the least desirable to have in the Cobra world, parchment and black are what they want. Aftermarket race seats come up quite often also.

I'd think that I'd need to upgrade the alternator to at least a 95amp. I already need to upgrade the charging system wiring. Yet again, when tryin to seperate at the connector, the plastic had melted. And thats with no extra loads on the system.

Wow, maybe I am getting this stuff and I won't need Meotch to make the final connection and tell everyone that "he got it started..." LOL

The kids have used the car and parked it in the summer sun. You get in and start the car, foot on brake( brake lights on) the radio is on(kids can't drive without a radio), the ancient radiator cooling fan kicks on, the fuel pump has some age, it's whining, you turn on the AC, it's late in the day and the lights go on( of course the fog lights are on, kids can't drive without fog lights)you hit the seat warmer( we know about the back) then hit the window to roll it down and the button to move the seat back. Your door is still open to cool the interior quicker, the interior lights are on. Better get the 120!
Did I forget the wipers in this story, let's turn them on too.

Hey Mike, do you think the Recaros from an EVO will fit? Ebay is full of stock ones.

You will need brackets. I do not know if they work with the standard Recaro FOX mounts. Gimme a minute to go look.

The ones in my 2008 don't take the same mounts as the ones in my SVO but they would probably work. Might need to modify the FOX mounting holes a bit. The front mounts with two vertical bolt holes so - if the width is proper - might fit over the studs in the front frame rail in the FOX. Rear looks to have vertical holes also (didn't take off all the plastic trim pieces though) but the floor pan appears to sit lower than what I remember in the SVO. Worse case is you'd need to make some brackets (which would raise the seat) or move the mounting studs/holes in the rail and floor pan of the SVO with a wee bit of fabricating to keep the seat real low..

All of the USA-bound EVOs (8, 9 & 10) came with Recaros and each flavor is different.
