Count us for 2.5 (Me, Lisa, & Gabby).

We should get lodging nailed down soon. Critical points when searching on the lodging:

Ask if the access to the house is paved the whole way.
Parking, can we park trucks & trailers with no issues?
Garage parking is a plus.
Bathrooms, the wives will want them.
Bedrooms, are there enough?
Location, as long as we are no more than about 45min from the Thunder Dome.
Call executive lodging & ask if they can cut us a break for repeat business, they have in the past.

I can lend some assistance, but I do not have the time to be the main POC to set the house up this year.

We're starting to prepare for Sturgis. We're taking Stacey's 1986 1D this year. This is what it looks like today.

I'll have to get my ass in gear getting the 88 drivable for the track stuff.
I'm officially SVO-less again.

I've got one or two for sale, you've still got time to pick one up before Sturgis!
My 1C daily driver is running great these days!

Dave,

Looks like you've got rid of all the unnecessary weight in preparation for the autocross, getting serious! I need to start driving mine before it is time to go to see if there are any surprises this year, parked it in mom's garage this spring and there it sits.

This year we're bringing Stacey's car, it just needed a thorough cleaning after 5 or 6 seasons of autocrossing.
The interior is going back in before Sturgis.

Well, the car is coming along for Sturgis. Today I got to drive Stacey's SVO with the new tires, Bridgestone RE-71Rs, and it handled great! Those tires are awesome handling tires. Not sure about the durability, but the handling was supurb. The interior is back in, oil and transmission fluid changed; rebuilt alternator and starter installed. Still need to service the cooling system and a few other odds and ends. How is everybody else doing? What projects are we going to have for Sturgis this year?
Oh, we've done some shopping too...

Did you have them bench test the starter before you took it home? LOL

Did you have them bench test the starter before you took it home? LOL

I picked this starter up at a swap meet...I'm going to have to take my chances.
When I installed it yesterday, I kept thinking how much easier it was to install on a SVO than a 5.4L F150!

Meotchh
08-03-2015, 10:17 AM
SLOW, very SLOW.

I'm making progress but I haven't gotten to the point I can attempt to start the car yet. Maybe by the weekend?

You need to pickup some of the Lays "Southern Biscuits & Gravy" chips. Just tried them last night, damn good idea!

When I installed it yesterday, I kept thinking how much easier it was to install on a SVO than a 5.4L F150! I have the MM k-frame and tubular a-arms on my red car. Very easy access to the starter motor with nothing is in the way and there's no sharp edges either!

Car hasn't been moved, started, or even touched since last fall. Had big plans, but...NADA!

My car seems to get further and further into summer before its on the road. Doing too much to it and getting discouraged with a lack of progress. Scope creep and having to redo things that were done but don't work with new mods. I don' know if I'm loosing interest, getting old or what?

Scope creep is the culprit. One minor change has a chain reaction on all other aspects of the build. I build websites for a living and the same thing happens... A deadline comes and goes because of scope creep. I daily drive my SVO, so my daily goal is to keep it running. Now and then, I'll get a part or an idea that I consider an "upgrade", but I have to make DAMN CERTAIN that the upgrade can be done in one evening without issue because I need to start and drive my car in the morning.

HA! Well, I also have a "project" SVO in the garage... And it's been in the garage for three years. Sell all your cars except one SVO and it will be running quickly and STAY RUNNING! ;)

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to Sturgis again this year as planned. We are selling our house in Tucson and I need to use my vacation time to make a road trip to pick up my '85 SVO before winter hits, and if the house sells over the winter shipping it back will be a pain. Have a great time, share stories and maybe I'll be there next year. My registration is already paid for the racing package along with a drivers school for the autocross event. I can forward the receipt if there is a chance that anyone can use these things or register as me and pick up my T-shirt. Bummer!!

Sorry to hear that Tom, good luck on the sale of the house.

I will let you know if we can use your registration. There is a good chance I'll have the car ready to go & I haven't registered yet.

I contacted Dan Jacobson by phone directly. He OK'd the pre-registration transfer from me to you. I emailed him all your info today. Still have not received email confirmation, but you should be good to go...

Continuing our tradition of past years, I'll send out the spreadsheet of who's bringing what and send it to those going. If you're going and you don't get the spreadsheet please let me know.
I'm going to start my "gathering of stuff to bring" today.

OK this is the dilemma. What should I bring? Do we grill? I can bring brats (Butcher down the street, made fresh-multiple flavors available) Local dairy made cheese curds and butter but they don't travel well over multiple days so is it worth the effort? Corn is in season yet and is very tasty? Do I want my laptop-does anyone going have experience with MS or pimp tuning-idle or boost controller strategy? Drive up ramps-steel jack stands? Car detailing supplies? I'm a nubie when it comes to this trip, talk to me.

Meotchh
08-23-2015, 08:46 PM
Bruce,
In the past we have grilled randomly, so bring the brats! We usually have no shortage of jacks & jack stands. The rental houses usually have a hose available but you will still need your preferred detailing supplies.

Most importantly, we usually share the breakfast meals among the guests in the house. Basically pick the day you want to cook & what you plan on cooking. The kitchens are usually well stocked with spices, general baking supplies, condiments, creamers, sweetners, etc. Beer is always necessary just to assist in getting Tony's cars put together.

DaveS
08-24-2015, 08:08 AM
Bruce,

What Mitch said. I'd pass on the cheese stuff, too hard to transport. Bring the corn from that same guy, awesome stuff!!! I'd say bring your laptop as you know it works with your setup. I'll have a small air compressor, shop vac, jackstands and a jack. Bring your own chemicals and detailing stuff. I sent out a summary email to all over the weekend that will help.

Good to know. Now about those brats 6 each-Beer and cheddar, Jalapeno and cheddar and Philly chicken brats. 18 ears of corn enough?

Raven855
08-26-2015, 09:40 AM
When is everyone planning to get to Sturgis?

By the way, if you have fresh sweet corn, I could eat 18 ears by myself! But I promise to behave........

DaveS
08-26-2015, 03:46 PM
@Bruce, sounds good. I remember those brats from last year...GOOD...and the corn, awesome sweet corn.
@Tony, Bruce and I will be arriving Tuesday mid-day. Planning to stop by two car museums on the way up there (one is a Mustang/Shelby/Boss museum). We'll be passing through Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon, and the museum tours on Monday. If you're interested, I can send you more info.

Great accommodations this year; ample trailer parking!
Even met another SVO owner this afternoon; we hope they join us later this week to share in some war stories.
Anyway, here is another picture....the crew, minus Cindy, just before we all start supper.

Yes it will be which is great because I really needed the practice. The course crosses itself and the first time there is no gate marker. When there is nothing there my mind says go-right past the corner!

Well that's it folks, SMR9 has wrapped up & we were on the road. SVOCOP central has been returned to its pervious state as another Executive lodging rental. The house will never be the same again.

The event was great & it was a bonus to have Bruce make it this year. He took over where Doug left off. Bruce made it to the top 8 in the autocross. He successfully held off many highly modified, high horsepower contenders. He went home with enough money to top of the tank in his car & a gift certificate for Gateway mustangs.
We had nothing for the show & shine since we were grouped in a rather large fox body class. If we can manage to put together enough pre-registered SVOS next year (at least 10), we should be able to have the class added back.

We had the pleasure of meeting another SVO owner, his wife, & friends from MO. Maybe they'll post here, hint. .. They had been following the post about the show so they decided to make the trip. Now we think we have another willing participant for next year's autocross!

We'll post more pics as we finish the road trip. Gabby, Lisa, & Daddy are hitting the road!

On the Poker Run, there was a lot of fresh clean air... with a hint of 91 Octane. I found fuel on my intake. We ended up and the SVO house with the brain trust/pit crew. I had stopped by O'Reilly's for some Injector O-rings. Replaced them only to find the injectors themselves leaking, through the body of two of the injectors. Dave saved our week by having a set of new injectors with him... Awesome! WAY TO GO DAVE!!! and thanks again!!! Here is the crew in action... just before some great tacos...
