I'll post this here since it is not SVO related.
I pulled the aod from my wife's LX 5.0 this weekend due to the fact it was slipping. There was also a vibration in the car.
When we got it out we found the bellhousing cracked the whole way around.
Has anyone heard of this and what might have caused it??
The motor mounts appear to be ok as well as the trans mount.

I've seen this before. If the torque converter is not installed into the case correctly it can protrude forward about 3/8-3/4" (if I remember correctly) When you bolt up the transmission and torque down the bolts the housing cracks.

That is probably what happen. You have to turn the converter so that it slides all the way in. I've seen that happen before and it is just a little bit. It will drive for awhile.

No, I don't think the tranny and engine have ever been separated. Its not cracked at the bolt holes either. It is cracked about six inches back from where it bolts to the block going from one side all the way around to the other side.

Check your flexplate maybe?

The flexplate looks fine too. I am replacing it with a TCI piece.
