I have a question I have problem when I power shift to third gear, it will go if I shift gently , is this normal ? it power shifts fine first to second, is there a problem I need to deal with?? I have a 85 if that matters.

I'm not sure what you mean by power shift, but if your having trouble going from second to third you may have a bad synchro. I had a similar problem with mine, 1-2 was fine, 2-3 wouldn't go into gear. I ended up shifting 1-2-4-3. Might be time for a rebuild, fixed mine nicely.

It may be as easy as the nylon bushing on the bottom end of the shift lever (under the shifter). Often these wear and make the gate to 3rd hard to hit. If you shift too fast its easy to get half way between 3rd and 5th.

Thanks brsvo you may have a point there, if I try to shift fast into 3 it jams up , if I shift slowly it works just fine, up shifts & down shifts works just fine. is there a picture of this part you speak of my be a part number ?

I'd start with a fluid change in the gearbox.

Mike , I have changed fluid out after my complete restoration, I went though the entire car but the tranny now I may have to pull it down.

Many times with the syncro issue, you can double clutch to get it into gear quite easily.
