Grey car has been down for over a year, it used to have an STP filter. As I try to hand-tighten a WIX 51068 oil filter, it gets tight around half-way. Is this typical? I see it works at not letting oil leak out as it is removed.

Tight on the threads or tight against the o-ring seal?

Not tight on the threads, and it's about halfway on the threads, well before the o ring touches the block. Current theory is that the tightness is caused from the spring in the filter that keeps the oil from coming out of the filter when the filter is removed. New oil is installed, and plans are to start the car Sunday afternoon. Should I plan on changing that?

... and plans are to start the car Sunday afternoon. Should I plan on changing that? Uh, yeah, I would recommend to solve/fix the oil filter issue before starting the engine.

Wix web site shows this is the correct filter, and I've got a couple of spare ones. I've also got a spare FL 300 one. We didn't get a chance to start the car, and I appreciate the feedback!
