Turbo causing smoke at start up?

I am puzzled at a puff of what appears to be oil smoke at start up.
Motor is completely rebuilt along with head and Turbo, included in this were good valve guides and seals.
The car only smokes at start and it happens first start of the day and every time I stop for any extended amount of time.
It never smokes under heavy load or any other time, just start up after 20 minutes or so and its only a chunky Puff!
Plugs are mint showing the motor seems to be just fine so it seems to possibly be a turbo problem?
Car runs excellent, I had put round 125 miles on it yesterday boosting her every so often to 17 psi.
slight idle issue but I believe that once I get the the worked injectors back that too will be a problem of the past.
Perhaps this is normal?

Car did this before the upgrade recently to square intake, fuel rail and 35# injectors, PE and manual boost controller.
Had a guy from Ford recommend a water cooled turbo, he says the oil cooled units would get hot and oil would get past the bearings on the hot side? If it was a guild wouldn't it smoke all the time?
Is he full of it?

Usually these type of issues are from bad valve stem seals. I would think a turbo problem would be present all the time or under boost, but some one with more turbo problem solving experience is bound to reply. Bruce

Mine does the same but has not been rebuilt recently. I have new valve seals to change out in the future. Definitely a 'chunky puff' at start up but good otherwise. If it's something other than valve seals I guess I will find out after I change them.

Kinda odd it only does this sometimes during start up and no smoke while driving or under heavy boost.
Its amazing the difference a few pounds of boost makes.

Its amazing the difference a few pounds of boost makes. As mentioned above by brsvo, this indicates the valve stem seals are leaking. If the spark plugs have some wet oil deposits on them, it's the intake side. If the plugs are dry, it's the exhaust - usually accompanied by burned oil deposits in the exhaust ports and exhaust manifold/header entry tubes.

You should use a higher -temp seal on the exhaust side. But wait until the engine has more hours on it. New valves and guides need oil to get run-in. After they're seated to eadh other, then the amount of oil can be reduced. Installing too good-sealing seals too early can lead to early stem/guide failure. So put it on your September task list.

So cheesy seals ate a good thing? On NEW heads/valves/guides I usually leave the seals off for the first ten hours or so. Then install good seals. But that takes more time and work. And some folks don't like that because they think they have more important things to do in life than work on their cars.

What could possibly be more important than working on your car? I bet your car smoked like a steam engine without valve seals.
I get embarrassed with a little puff at start up.

Speaking of embarassed people who bought Chrysler convertibles with the old 3.0 MItsu. engine. After 60K they smoke all the time. That must have sucked with a drop top.

I hope it is just valve seals, unfortunately The previous owner had the head done and I received it bagged and tagged.
Bolted her on and thought I was done.
I should have known better, You only know what you have if you do it yourself!

Can anyone recommend the correct valve seals and point me twords a pictorial link if available of an in car replacement procedure?

It look as though they used the rubber type seals as replacement according to the paperwork.
