Hello
Scott from MuscleCar Research agreed to measure, compare and confirm components in a SVO valve (compared to a non-SVO).
Problem is I don't have one to send him. If anyone has a valve (there is a chance that he will ruin to reverse engineer) let me know. I will pay you to send to him.
This might be a good thing for the community. BRAKES (especially the proportioning valve) are a service item that don't get attention enough IMO.
If you have ever taken a valve apart you know that they didn't use a SS spring and OFTEN it is junk! (one push away from failure) This may offer an alternative to gutting and using a manual valve.

I have one that I disassembled a very long time ago. Have all the parts that came out. Spring is OK, afaik but there's still some crud in it. Haven't visited with it in a decade or so though.
Will look for later tonight.

Ok That might be a start (rather than ruin another).
Let me know can PM Scott's address.
Mark
P.S. At least from you I just have to visit when in AZ right ! LOL

Talked to Scott - HE WOULD prefer on that hasn't been opened. So he can take apart, document (spec out) and rebuild for instructions!

OK James (guys - maybe a couple will insure the project gets done right) My guess is he checks bores for wear and could differ on two !!

I didn't expect to not pay to get these done for us! But my guess is it will cost $5.35 to mail. So send me your address or "ask for an SVO item" you need!

I wasn't expecting any payment. He is doing a service for the SVO community potentially. I have 1 and found an SVO in the salvage last week. I can drop by and get it if he wants it.

I told Scott to watch for a package from you (maybe other) This is one of the simpler rebuilds - just needs new components usually (not like a master cylinder that needs a hone, bore or to be sleeved back to size.
Scott's kits are made with modern seals (not just rubber) and have stainless steel springs and will come with detailed instructions on disassembly. (and tricks - like using a drywall screw to remove the plug)
So many of us spend time on our brakes, try to flush and refresh - the valve is the weak link that never gets addressed. If you really want a stock working system this will be the ticket.

Mine was not where I thought it was, some pretty nasty storms around here, will check other places tomorrow. Like Tony, I'm not expecting payment for shipping, if he makes a rebuilt one it will be best 5 bucks I ever spent on an SVO. :)

Found mine on the shelf where it should have been, but it was in a box labeled "Bronco parts". I didn't know the Bronco and Svo shared the same proportioning valve, but i also didn't know VA had a four digit zip code. :)

USPS shipping fixed the error when I was filling out the online shipping form. Coincidentally, I did QA testing on the address checking USPS uses last century. I was glad to see that even though civilization was due to end because of the year 2K bug, stuff I tested still works now.

I'm not even sure that humans should have lived this long, no one owes me anything, and I'm not to blame for anything.

Scott called me today to let me know he got my proportioning valve and it looked like he could get us a rebuild kit easily, but it might be a few weeks because he does this as a part-time hobby. I was impressed he called me to let me know.

Yeah Scott has been great for the hobby ! (early cars and 428cobrajet.org site)
What do you guys think will be best (for both demand/discounts and delivery)? I will start a POLL thread if I can and we will see what works for all.

Depending on the cost, I'd probably order 3 to 6 of them.

James Well your's is coming back rebuilt from Scott !! As soon as he gets back from Carlisle I will start a LINK thread so you can order. Scott is planning a 20% discount for SVOCOP for a while. I think everyone will be happy with the kit and surprised at the final price !
