waiting for a tow

1986 ,car just died at light...turns over but won't start...in the last week or so..it wouldn't start on the first turn...any ideas?

Does the tach needle bounce when cranking?

If NOT, stop cranking it. Could be cam belt and/or dizzy gear (which means no oil pump). Fortunately those items are relatively to check and fix.

Just got it home...can't remember if it was when I did...will have to check on Sunday when I get back home...battery is dead now and one other strange thing ..I had the drivers window down and it wouldn't go back up..

Sounds cursed! One thing at a time, make sure the battery is good, do Mike's test, then see what's going on with the window.

Make sure the fuel pump primes when you turn the key on before attempting to start.
