Does anyone have any experience with the PiMP ECU? My stock ECU is fried thanks to my stupidity.

My questions are;
- How user friendly is it
- Other then a wideband is there anything else I need to buy (already have a bung welded in my down pipe)
- I have a bigger turbo that I have had for a while now so should I get bigger injectors as well
- My engine is stock
- should I order the stinger boost controller (I 'm still running the stock one)
- Any other tricks/tips would be greatly appreciated

The Pimp is very good. It has very good support also. And yes I have Megasquirt experience and even have installed a Pimp. I would need more information on what your goals and expectations are to answer your questions. What turbo do you have? What year SVO? What mods have you done and are planning?

My 2 cents on the pimp is that there is a learning curve for sure. I love mine and I had NO experience with aftermarket tuning. Support is first rate. How does it run now? (before the self destruct thing) With a stock motor it would be a lot cheaper to buy a rebuilt ecu. Bruce

It is a 86' and it ran fine before the "oops". The turbo I have is a t3/t4 .63/.63, my plans for the car is 350-400ish hp on E85. The motor is stock (for the time being) other then a FMIC and a frankenstiened intake setup. I hate buying parts twice, so I always build for the future.

Picture for intake setup.

I have one in my 86 street/track car. You will want to make sure the car is running correctly before starting the swap otherwise you will be trying to tune and troubleshoot at the same time which could lead to making tuning adjustments to mask an issue. The tuning software with the auto tune function makes it a lot easier to get the tune in the correct ball park. A dyno session is needed to squeeze the most out of your setup without blowing something up.

You need a wide band O2 and an Air Temp Sensor in the intake track. I installed mine in the lower part of the intake. There are other ways to accomplish this.

When you order the PIMP, tell Stinger what your setup comprises and they will send a base tune that is close and will get you running. You can always increase the boost and the size of the injectors after you get you tune running correctly.

You can use a manual boost controller or the stinger one. I have a MBC.

You will get a starter manual with the ECU. I read and re-read the thing at least 5 times before I started the conversion. Then I re-read it another 10 times while getting the tune set. Follow the steps outlined. Don't jump ahead. You will need to download the MegaSquirt 2 manual from the internet to get more information out some of the function that can be used once you have the base tune running correctly.

Mike is spot on on the Pimp, startup and tuning. In a basic install, you start with the wiring pinned out like a LA3 conversion.

I finally ordered the PIMP ECU along with a bunch of other items to finally get the car back on the road. No the fun begins.
