Cruise control

Anyone have experience with any after market cruise controls out there? I don't know if I can do one with my turned intake. I want to drive my car to Sturgis but I won't even consider it without cruise. I put this here as I didn't know where else it should go.

I would expect any electric motor type with a cable would work.

I've installed a couple over the years. They're fairly universal kits, can be made to fit almost anything pre-throttle by wire. But they are not attractive under the hood. The servo takes up a lot of room and the brackets, cables, harness, etc really look the part of "this doesn't belong here". However, they functioned really well.

Although in my mind alot of whats under my hood belongs there, purist's would say otherwise. LOL I am concerned about where the box will fit. My throttle cable is only about a foot long. I may be able to put the box on the PS fender and route a cable behind the engine to the throttle body I guess. Do these need a speedo cable connection or do they work off a sensor on the driveshaft?

For pre-VSS vehicles there are options for both. One is a signal generator that installs at the end of the speedo cable (they are make-specific, GM / Ford etc), or a more universal kit that uses a simple small magnet/pickup sensor on the driveshaft. I used this on my old Dodge 1-ton tow vehicle. It worked just fine.

I see them all over just no specifics on install. They all tell you what a cruise does not whats involved in making it do so. Thanks for the input.
