Blown tachometer fuse

Ok guys. I'm going to ask for help for my 85 Saleen. The fuse for the tachometer keeps blowing. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Does it blow immediately?

No. I put another fuse in and it hasn't blown yet either.
All the wires in the connecting plug to the ignition box have been changed to spade connectors. I am guessing the plastic plug got brittle and fell apart. I taped them individually and haven't had a problem since. I think the wires would bounce and touch to ground or each other and cause the problem. Havent drove the car to far yet since I did that though to see.
