Some guy showed up at Autobooks yesterday driving this ~21 liter 1917 Fiat on the street. It raced in Argentina the 20's, was wrecked and put back together in the early 30's. You could see where the block had been welded back together. It has an exposed to open air valve train and an interesting driveline.

Iirc that was just the block.

Did he carry an oil squiter can in the car for the valve train? And add a couple drops to each rocker every stop?

The car had been wrecked back in the 20's. It was oiled up (or down) at the garage just 3 or 4 miles away. It was interesting watching the workout involved with priming the system. You can see the shop boss Bernard priming away at the start of this video:

Notice the cable drive for the tach at the back of the cam cover.

That's very cool - the driver can reach out - with a gloved hand - and scrape the rocks of the rear tyre.
