Sensor/switches/valves for ???

What does this 'stuff' control? It's located on the rear of the passenger spring tower. I'm guessing it could be part of the HVAC system but I've been wrong before...lol

One is the EGR control solenoid and the other is over boost signal/alarm switch.

The one with two hoses and associated check valves controls the EGR valve (top); the other is the overboost switch (10.5PSIG for non-SVO, 17.5 for SVO).

EGR solenoid uses a 2-wire connector (ignition positive and EEC as ground) while the other uses the bracket-to-shock tower ground path (dash light and buzzer).

IIRC the 84 and some early 85 SVO's (maybe non-SOV turbo also) had a heat shield since both of those switches are VERY close to the turbine housing/downpipe. And the later models did not have a heat shield. So those switches and harness connectors tend to melt after a few years - faster on modified engines (higher EGTs).

I have pics somewhere of what the shield looks like and how it mounts.

TL;DR: If you're does not have a heat shield, get one.
