Stock Intercooler Composition

Are the stock end tanks aluminum? I'm going to have a bung welded on for a blowoff valve and want to get the right material.

Yes. The frame and core are all aluminum.

If you pull it apart the seals will swell. I started to take mine apart last night to reseal the core after I replaced it awhile back. Adding a bypass valve too.

The plan is to take it apart, have a 3 inch long by 1" diameter tube welded on, media blast it clean, maybe paint it, and reassemble with the Bell core in place of the stock core.

I actually replace my core a few years back with the Spearco unit. The bypass valve I’m using bolts on, but I’m also going to mount a sensor for air temps while I’m at it. Mounting a cooling fan on the bottom of the cooler also.
