I found my turbo support bracket broken through the front half last weekend. Never herd of this before. cracked manifolds but not supports. Thinking of doing a quick weld job in the car, whats your opinion?

I removed it when installing a new turbo. I have a flex pipe between the downpipe and catalytic converter that should help keep the manifold from cracking.

This is VERY common. The early brackets were made of a thin plain steel that was not up to the job of constant heat cycles to 1650F. The later ones (first seen on the 87/88 TCs) were a thicker stainless material that was more heat tolerant. The thicker bracket required longer studs in the bottom holes.

I have a flex pipe and it still broke. That said it is 35 years old.
