Time to get rid of Monaco?

Ok, I know it's probably sacrilege to suggest such a thing, but am I the only one to think such a dastardly thing?

I love a good street race....I love the romance of running along the sea in Europe...but the lack of decent passing is incredibly annoying.

Outside of mechanical difficulties, pit stop strategy or rain, there is almost no meaningful passing. It's almost like a fast parade lap once the first few laps shakes things out.

Has Monaco outlived its purpose?

It was only a few years ago that you could count the whole season's passes for the lead on one hand. There's no way they will get rid of Monaco. It is the crown jewel of the F-1 season, and the tax shelter home of many FIA big whigs.

Just do the bachelor thing and flip them inside out when they get soiled. It saves on 1/2 the laundry you do. Why don't they just build a high bank oval at Monaco and send Dale and Darrel and Rusty and Junior and Cletus over there to show them how it's done?

I have to say I had the same sentiment after watching the parade.

But then I reflect on my bitch about cookiecutter Tilke tracks, that are just about as bad, and think that we need to keep some of the history of the sport intact.

Monaco is more about the artwork of driving and survival on the course than about passing.

If you really want to watch lots of passing, go to a local dirt track.

You should have said Indy . There was a record 34 lead passes at Indy 2012.

It's just soooo boring to actually try to watch Indy. They pretty much only show the leaders - unless there's a spin or crash or some pit mishap.

I thought Sato did a wonderful job driving - right up till the second to last corner. OOPS!

I think Bobby Rahal may be just what Sato has been looking for. Beisides his rediculous pass around L12 & his dive below the white line in T1 at L199, he had super smooth race compliments of Rahal. Sato had the fastest car on the track & would have had no trouble passing Dario between T2 & the S/F line. I like Dario, but it would have been something to see the underdog take the victory. The first asian face on the BW, plus it would be interesting seeing Letterman interveiw Sato on Latenight.
