whos running them? what separator are you running and how did you hook it up? pictures? ive got what i thought was an oil leak, might still be, but i think im also getting a bit of blow-by. every time i pop the hood the breather on the back of the valve cover is either popped up or popped out. also have a problem with detonation when its switched to premium, which i now suspect could be caused by blow-by. any help is greatly appreciated!

I've got a catch can air/oil separator on my SVO, I outlined how I set it up and answered a bunch of questions about it here: http://stinger-performance.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=faq&action=display&thread=732 It completely eliminated any oil control issues (lifting the dipstick at 25+psi, misting a little oil out of the breather at the back of the valve cover, etc.). It even makes the oil return line function better since it removes pressure in the crankcase that would otherwise obstruct oil flow back into the crankcase.

I went a different direction. I opened up the hole in the back of the cam cover to 1/2"-14 NPT and installed the appropriate NPT to -10 adapter.

I also opened up the hole in the the turbo elbow to the same 1/2'-14 NPT and put the appropriate -10 adapter there as well. I then used the Moroso 85471 air/oil separator in between the cam cover and the turbo inlet.

On the intake side, I removed the air/oil separator on the block and tapped it for 1/2"-14 NPT, ran the 5/8 hose up to the PCV valve then up to the bottom of the intake. With my setup, I still retain the factory designed, closed PCV system. Except now, instead of the engine trying to inhale and exhale through a 1/4 or 5/16 diameter hose, it's now breathing through a 5/8 hose. Dipstick stays in place, intake is dry and so is my garage floor and I'm not sucking in (albeit a miniscule amount) unmetered air at idle and light throttle. There is a link in the first post of this thread http://www.svocop.com/forum/showthread.php?211-PCV-Explained It's a pretty good read.

I'm going to piggy back on this thread. Reading this got me thinking about my set up. The PO had it set like this. Sorry to be dumb but do I need to drain oil out somewhere? The line runs from the Crankcase vent to the canister and then in front of the turbo. It has the tube on top which is normally capped.

Saving a spot for when I get lot my laptop.

I went a different direction on my crankcase ventilation setup. I used an electric vacuum pump from a later model poopy (maybe a firebird). Basically I used the existing air/oil separator and the valve cover ports, ran them to a air oil separator and then to the vacuum pump. The pump vented to atmosphere.... It worked for me and up to 35 lbs of boost (accidental pressures, normal was 28 psi).

Ext setup will be similar but with a Racor air/oil separator as this is a truly useful unit. I have one of these on my diesel grand cherokee. I'll post pics later on....

One last thing. The pump activated using a boost switch to kick it on at 5psi.....

That canister should unscrew about 2" from the top of the canister (right below the fittings going in/out of the sides). The oil/water should collect in the lower portion that unscrews. If it gets too full, it will get sucked back into the turbo since it will be at the same level as the fitting going into the turbo inlet.

I added a filter/liquid separator to my red car between the cam cover-mounted catch can and the turbo compressor intake. Mounted it to the front right inner fender and plumbed it using 3/8 (10mm) silicone hoses.

I have never seen any dirt, moisture or vapors in it.

Purchased a Summit plastic one quart oil cannister. Plumbed from the oil separators on the block and valvecover to the cannister. I left the separators in to do the job they were meant to do.

Sorry, this is a crappy picture but you can see the can with the filter on top to the right of the engine:
