No, not that kind...my SVO...lol

I thought I would share what I have on my 1986 SVO drag car. I will start with the disclaimer: I did NOT build this car; I purchased it from Mike Abbey in 2005. He put it on E-Bay for sale and that is where I first saw it. I was fortunate to be in a position at the time to buy the car and keep it out of the hands of some interweb butcher. Another plus was the fact Mike only lives about 3hrs/150miles from me so I was able to make numerous trips there before we made a deal. The car and all the spare parts were stored in a heated/climate controlled shop and came with the car. The documentation I received includes the original window sticker, build sheet, dealer sales invoice, copies of the bill of lading and factory invoice.

He and the car became quite famous racing in the NMCA G/EFI class and was a class record holder in ’92 and won the World Championship that year. I have some videos of him “beatin’ up” on a number of 5.0 Mustangs and V-8 Camaros.

The car was originally a lease car and had about 30,000 miles on it when Mike bought it in 3/1991 from Focaro Ford. He swapped all his go-fast parts into it from his TC after it experienced a typical ‘87/’88 TC fire. Mike was very meticulous when he built the car and either removed and replaced original parts with ones he modified or purchased new ones so the car could be returned to stock specs. I have all the parts from when I acquired the car so I could build a bone stock 34,000 mile SVO with parts that came on the car. It still has a full interior and never had a cage or roll bar installed. The only change was a replacement driver’s door due to a minor accident and a monochrome re-paint in the original color.

I drove it on the street for one summer to car shows and cruise nights and continuously got the usual BS, “why did you take the V-8 out?” lol
It’s getting registered again soon now that I don’t have to deal with CT emissions anymore (over 25 years). I still plan on taking it to the track once I can drive a bit better.

I remember seeing the car in 1995 at Indy. Mike Abby had it there. Really nice car. Glad you got it and took good care of it.
