Thrust spec for aux shaft?

Anybody have this spec? Looks like we're going to give the stock oiling system one more try so I want to make sure I have all the specs properly accounted for.

Don't recall the actual spec, but the ones I've measured have all been in the 0.003-0.005" axial play. Dry. Same as the camshaft (same mounting plate).

Why? And I had the spec at .005 also.

All the mounting plates I have are worn. I don't want to have any more failures so I'm trying to make sure that every component is within spec.

Bob, how far out of spec are yours? Got access to a heliarc, silicon bronze rod, and a surface grinder?

One other thing you may look at is the screws for that plate. I remember a thread over on TF a few years back where some of the screws were actually too long and did not allow for proper tightening of the plate. Essentially they were bottoming out and the plate was loose.

I'm sure you meant a dial indicator, No?

BTW - Ford svc manual specs for both camshaft and auxiliary shaft:

END PLAY 0.001 - 0.007"

When I check the end play, I'll use a dial indicator. I assumed that Pat meant the thickness of the mounting plate. Thus the use of a different measuring device.
