Driveshaft question

My 86 driveshafts front yoke is shot. Ford doesn't service this and the JY was trying to tell me its turbo only? Do I need the damper on the yoke? I see some on line without it.
Considering an aluminum one but have heard of vibration issues, Opinions welcome, Bruce

Bruce, the driveshaft is the same for all 79-93 5spd manual transmission Mustangs. They are not turbo specific. The damper is not neccesary as many guys run one without it. I run an aluminum driveshaft in my SVO. You will notice a funny clink sound sometimes when you pop the car into gear or take off. I think it's just sound resonating through the aluminum shaft. Doesnt bother me,but you do notice it. I think this is typical with the aluminum driveshaft. I have never noticed any vibration issues with mine.

I have an alum driveshaft also and it makes the clunk noise too (at least, I think that's it).

Ditto for me also. I wondered about that clunk. Since I just put the car together and had never run an aluminun driveshaft I was concerned I might have a problem, but perhaps not.

Well I finaly got it together. SVO origanal rear flange, JY aluminum AWD rear Aerostar driveshaft with new universals. I bought the special ones for aluminum and he warned me about the plastic seals that come on these. Well of course I broke one on each end during assembly. However its together and works great without vibration or clunking sounds of any type. Can I get away with some silicone on the universals in place of the broken seals? I really don't want to do it again, and if not I would use standard universals so it wouldn't happen again. Hopefully I never have to do these again.
