View Full Version : Sway bar hitting the strut...

Hey guys, I installed new ford "b" springs, with new koni red struts on the svo, and the sway bar is now hitting the strut.. And I have no idea whats wrong.. I have some pics.. if it may help you understand what I mean..

any ideas if I did something wrong?

No.. the original bushings.. I know the PO (the guy who had it before roberto2000) cutted the front springs and the car was way too low..

Do they rub when the car is on the ground?

What about getting an inch shorter links?

on the ground, in fact, the wooden blocks are under the a-arms, so its likle its on the ground, but I guess its the camber like mike kinda said...

With the car sitting on the ground the sway bar should be parallel with the surface of the road most of the time. I can't tell if your Konis are spaced out from the spindle or the end link is to long. I suspect you need to shorten the endlink. You could also try the relocation kit from M&M. It moves the mounting points of the sway bar forward.

Big news.. the camber is way off.. the camber on my friends car is at the complete opposite.. I'll have to take a look at that

Ends up not being that... I tried the other way around.. and there is no changes.. still hitting the swaybar....

Can anyone tell me if the swaybar is Svo specific? because it seems a little bit too long..

I measured it..

10" from the bushing to the end of it

and the diameter is 1.21"

Yes, front anti-sway bar is SVO Specific iirc.

can anyone tell me is the svo sway bar have the same length as measured in the picture? If i really have a 5.0L SB, where can I find a replacement swaybar? I saw that Maximum motorsport have a SB with a similar diameter.. but dunno if it could fit..

Maybe you would be better off measuring and comparing eyelet to eyelet rather that the 10 inch eyelet to pivot dimension.

okay guys,

I've done some research, talk to jack hidley at maximummotorsport, and it ends up the swaybar is really a svo swaybar, the spings are really FMS B springs, koni shocks are good too, I removed everything and reinstalled everything.. Still have the same problem..

The only thing left to look at is the K-member.. how can I tell if its a svo k-member? whats the difference between a foxbody and svo k-member?

The K member has the VIN number digits on the center of forward facing part.

The control arm mounting locations are different on an SVO.
