104210431044104510461047After two months of endless weekends and weeknights after work, this is what I got done.
I wanted to be done for the All Ford Nats at Carlisle but I just finished it on the 1st of July. Just a little behind schedule.
The color is the stock '84 9W dark charcoal metallic.

Nice job. I painted my wing on the 9W as well. I like the look.

It does kinda look like the wing is body color in the last pic but it actually is painted black.
But I would think the wings painted body color would look really nice too.

Very nice.

Are those 2005-2012 V6 wheels? I really like them.

No, those are '03-'04 mach 1 wheels. They fit the rear fine but the front took some massaging of the brake rotor snout.

Sweet! And LOTS of work. Nice shop too!

We need to start some Paint threads showing all the stages of stripping, prepping, primer, sealer, color, clear, and re-assembly work.

In my copious free time.

Thats an awesome job! I know you've been wanting it done for awhile now. I need to figure out how to get mine done now.

I had a local body shop that does very nice work give me a rough estimate of $5500. With the work I put into it I am sure the price would have been much higher than that.

What is it you had to do to make the wheels fit?

I took the front rotors off, knocked the studs out and took a grinder with a flat flapper type wheel and went around the snout of the rotor lightly so the center of the wheel fit down over the rotor. It only takes a few thousandths to make it fit.
I barely took more than the roughness from the casting off.
The rears just go right on with no problem. Well I did have to roll the lips though.

Good info. I have 2 sets of the 03/04 Mach 1 wheels - the originals for my 03 Mach and another set with road course tires. If it wouldn't take a lot, I thought about putting a set on the SVO for this weekend. But, I guess I'll wait until I get my lift installed.

Your car turned out great, hopefully see it next year at Carlisle.

Looks great! I know how much work that is too. I painted mine about 9 months ago. It's a lot of work. Even though it has a few small chips from driving it now, I still cringe everytime I hear a rock hit the front...

Very nice job with the paint. I was wondering, did the '84 have the fender badges or did you just like the look?

The '84 did not come with badges that I know of. If anything they had the same sticker as the one on the hatch. But to me a Mustang isnt a Mustang without a badge on the fender.
I told my wife that if someone didnt like them they can buy the car from me and take them off themselves.

Fair enough, I have no problem with it just curious. I believe that it everyone can do what they want with their own car, some do make me cringe though...lol! I think you did a tasteful job on yours.
