part #'s coolant hoses

I can not seem to find a part number for the coolant hoses on my 86 SVO. I need to replace ALL the hoses. There are 3 or 4 small hoses that I am in need of as well...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pat, I'll work on it. What I do know from memory (getting harder every day) is that the weird shaped "U" hose from the heater core at the firewall to the hard line on the pass side cam cover (the one that goes to the H20 pump) is NLA. The big ones to the radiator can be gotten commercially in Motorcraft, Delco and other brands. The ones to the oil cooler are NLA, but can be made from bulk hose or possibly found on eBay. You have to be careful with search tools like AutoZone's or RockAuto's lookup engine... It won't show all the hoses or the ones it shows will be wrong.

Then it dawned on me. I had done this elsewhere (about a million years ago) and just needed a minute to find it. Whew..saved me hours of lookup time!

Here goes. The 18B402 Tube is the metal tube set on the left side of the cam cover.

I expect that Ford will not source these items anymore. And be careful of NOS - while they may look good, they're still 20 year old rubber.

As for the molded bend hoses - like the ones to/from the oil cooler - be very careful with using straight hose and just bending it. There may be a serious restriction as the hose kinks. Make sure you check for this. Repair/modify as needed.

Except for the radiator hoses (1.25" top, 1.5" bottom), the intake manifold-to-heater pipe bypass (3/8"), & the heater core hoses (just one end) all the coolant hoses are 1/2" IIRC.

I cleaned out Green Sales' remaining inventory of NOS hoses a couple of years ago, even got the correct heater hoses for an 84 CP. Have been meaning to take them down to the local Schucks and see what they have that matches. Just need to find time.

If newly made hoses for the little ones are not available, what would an alternative be for the ones that bend. Maybe that marine hose that has the wire that runs thru it to not kink???

I am not even sure if it come in such a small diameter.

Sometimes other hose have similar bends that are for other applications that I have used on other cars in the past. I have not had any access to the back storage room at any local parts shops in a while to match things up.

The "S" bend hose has a semi suitable replacement made by Gates. S-63020, off a Honda or Acura.

Gates also has a number that is "cut to fit" for the other hose in the above pic, which is also used for the two oil cooler hoses. (number not immediately available. Maybe later.)

For all the 2.3L cars i've owned, i've NEVER liked the coolant line connections that were not off the radiator.

Anyone ever try to do any flaring of the heater core connections and trying some customizing of brass plumbing?
I'll get around to trying it sometime. But looking at Earl hoses makes me think something better is there off the shelf.

Also have had the idea of threading the connections on the T-Stat housing and one off water pump.

Most new heater cores are aluminum. Copper is too expensive.

I have been trying to cross-reference these hoses online and have been getting nowhere? Anybody got any "gates" #'s or anything else?

I got these cut to fit hoses for the oil cooler to hard lines from NAPA and Bumper to Bumper. Both the same hose but NAPA only had one so I had to try again.

I am not home at the moment... but In my old kits I had all the gates#s that crossed over. most had to be trimmed to fit but worked just fine. the U shaped hose was one of those when you look at it untrimmed "it wont work" but trimmed it was just fine. give me a day or so to track the list down.
