Has anyone done this with either good or bad affects? It appears that because of the webbing in the casting and the tight turns etc. that recommended overlapping would be impossible. I like the idea, but it would seem that hot and cool spots would be created and might defeat the purpose or ruin the manifold. Appreciate any thoughts or experiences

Look in to thermal barrier coatings as an alternative.
You can send it to a shop to have it done, or buy the materials and do it yourself.
