Ok ladies and gentlemen (ok....that's a stretch)

I went out to start my SVO the other day....it had been sitting static for a while. Battery was dead so I jumped it and it had no problem starting with the key in start position. Once I let the key fall back into the run position she dies.

What I would like to know is who will take the next Gold medal for the US? Also, what is happening to my SVO?

It stays lit until I let go of the key, with our without gas added. Haven't tried the spout disconnect.

How fresh is the ignition switch? Put a test light on the Plus side of the ignition coil and see what it shows with key in "Run" position versus "Crank".

The older ignition switches like to do this. When I was a broke HS kid driving a 79 notch I used to use a small screw to hold the switch just forward enough for the car to run but not engage the starter. Then I went to a random store and saw a new switch for like $13 and swapped it out. Felt kind of retarded it was such an easy fix, lol. Back then I had no internet and lived out in the middle of no where, 45 minute drive to the nearest parts store.
