View Full Version : NOS or Stainless steel coolant lines

I'm hunting for some NOS or staineless steel coolant lines for my SVO, the turbo feed line split this week, and forced4 is out of them and Eds Tubes is out of business so I'm needing some help to get the Comp Prep back on the road.

The one that broke open is the one that I'm assuming feeds the turbo with the fitting on the end of it that threads into the turbo housing.

Just my luck that all of the other ones are available but the one I need!

thanks.

you can text me at 805-315-1608 too if you can help.

FYI: Coolant comes out of the rear of the block, to the outside of the turbo CHRA, then out the CHRA to the threaded fitting tube back to the heater tube to the thermostat housing, then to the radiator.

I have a full set of NOS tubes somewhere - it's what the Forced4 repro SS ones were modeled from. Give me a couple days to look for them.

Mike, you are the man!

yes, please let me know what you come up with, cause right now I'm at a loss...just thinking that the rest of these line will start popping off soon!

So since Forced 4's manufacturer is out of business should we start looking for a new supplier/ manufacturer????

Be patient. We are working with suppliers for other lines & the water lines should be dooable.

Just a friendly heads up, we are remaking the tubo oil feed lines for the SVO & other 2.3T variations. We are working on details to sell through vendors. Keep shecking back as we will post the details once everything is worked out.

Any updates on these lines? I have my 85.5 motor out of the car at the moment, and now would be a fantastic time to replace these lines. Shame about Forced4....

I had Inline tube make the svo turbo feed line. Just got them yesterday. Ask for Chuck if you want to get one from them.

Are there any sources for these coolant hard lines? One developed a leak this week. In trying to remove it, I found the nut is seized to the tubing and the tubing just finished breaking as soon as the wrench turned. This is the coolant line from the turbo center section running forward along the top of the exhaust manifold. Apparently, 263K miles is all these are good for. :p If new is not available, I will buy a used one if any one has one to sell.

Checked with Inline Tube on the coolant lines and they said Sorry, we only bend up to ½ inch. :(

The mfg is not out of buisness .... we are.

The mfg is actually a member of SVOCA... or was... It is just a matter of someone ponying up the cash to buy 100 sets of lines to make it worth their time to bend them up.

The last 100 I bought took me 2 years to sell and we still had a few straglers that are siting in a storage garage in NY.

Good to hear from you Eric. We spoke many years ago about SVO parts but like you, life got in the way and the SVO got put on hold. Unfortunately I should have bought up a bunch of parts before I parked it!

Wow, 100 sets. I was wondering what a minimum quantity might be but never thought it would be that high. I can imagine it would take 2 yrs to go through 100 sets. You still have some straglers available??

I do have some peices parts but they are 14 hours away in NY. I have contacted the powers on this board to see if they can work with the mfg. As a side note I will be working with Pat to try and revive some parts. But I beg those who think they are trying to do good, do not read into my posts too much and harass the venders. Most have day jobs and contacting them through their day jobs could and will get them fired.

and I know this is not other boards but I am going to say it anyway. I am not selling these contacts. these contacts are my freinds and I am only trying to keep them out of the limelight for harasasment purposes. They enjoy the SVO as much as I do and many hours have gone into finding the right people and right parts to make it right.

Sorry if that was a soap box.

mike if it wasnt for you and your stash of nos parts thoes lines would never have been made. i would love to see our hard work not go to waste. And the vendor feels the same way. Yes. It comes down to money. As Eric stated the company wants a good size order to make them. Someone here did enquire a few months back and couldn't come up with the money.

Kendal Coker
08-29-2014, 04:55 AM
Coming up with the money was not the problem, return on investment was. The original discussion was for 20-25 sets but got changed to 50 sets after I got a dealer involved. You contacted me about doing the lines, I was just trying to follow up. I have the PM to back up my statement.

I also need the oil cooler line that goes from below the sending unit on the drivers rear on the block to the turbo.
I was going to use double flared 1/4" brake line, anyone see an issue with doing it that way?
I have the stainless line but when the previous owner removed the turbo they cut the line.
Im not sure why, stupidity I suppose.

You can make it out to me & I'll send you an oil line & pics from our vacation in Tahiti.

Alternatively, you can send a payment in the amount of $47.30 to the SVOCOP either through PayPal or postal money order, & we'll ship you an oil line via USPS Priority Flat Rate shipping, minus the Tahiti pics.

Is there a reason these couldn't be made in aluminum? Could be. Would need to be a 5000 series (bendability / weldability) and should be anodized to help reduce corrosion. It's been a while since i priced the different materials (mild steel, 304SS and Al) but I seem to recall that Al cost more than 304SS, while there would be some weight savings.

But I've slept since then and times have changed. YMMV.

As Mike pointed out, the cost of using the correct AL & finishing the product is greater than the SS option.

There is no reason you can't use hoses as long as you make provisions to keep them away from the turbine and exhaust manifold heat. Over time, the hose will cook, harden and crack if not shielded.

That tube looks like an EGR tube with tube nut on both ends? The coolant tube has a hose end (1/2") on one end.

Look at the diagram here:

Didn't they also make some EGR tubes?

ccmcelroy

You are correct that is the egr tube that I have pictured. My mistake. I did have a few of the others that you have in your link as well. I did not ask them to reproduce anything that had fittings/threaded ends. I was fortunate to have already purchased them. I just waited to long to get the rest of the tubes and Forced4 went out of business. I then searched for a long time and came across this company. I sent them a few emails with pictures and then ended up sending them my original tubes. Then the rest is history as they say. So, with that being said, I am not sure if they will reproduce the others that you have mentioned. I guess someone would have to go through the motions as I did. Maybe we could get them to make a large run if we had enough interest. Just like most people on this thread I watched and waited and then just decided to take a swing. Anyway, I was just trying to help by sharing the information that I had.

Ps, is this the one you are referring to? That is the PCV/cam cover rear outlet tube. Has a beaded hose end at the other end.

Here's some pics of a clean (after media blasting) stock one and one of the Forced4 units installed. The one I'm referring to goes from the CHRA of the turbo to the small nipple hose connection on the upper cam cover tube. 1/2" tube and hose.

Ah, I understand now. I do have one packed away somewhere. I have that same oil cap on my valve cover. The original one that came with my car had the rubber seal go bad( hardened) so that it wouldn't seal good. I purchased one like is on your valve cover from Performance Parts Inc as a "NOS" part. I used it but always wondered why it looked different than the others. Was it a service replacement part?

MikeFleming
09-14-2016, 06:27 AM
FYI: That pic of the tubes installed is Eric's from Forced4.

I suspect the cap was superceded by a part that would last longer, better design. In MANY cases service replacement parts from Ford were different than the items that originally came on the cars from the factory.

Chad,

I have been working with a gentleman to get lines made too but he was up front with me and said he wasn't sure if he could achieve the tight bends. He is looking into a company in NY that may be able to do the same work as you had done.

Thanks for your efforts and sharing your results. The lines look great and I sent the picture of them to my guy and he was impressed.

Could you check with your contact at SCR if they now have a template to make more lines and if so would they be willing to accept orders? It would probably be nice to have the 'Part number 8A520 - Tube Assy, Water Outlet' line made too.

This is great news, thanks again!!
