OK...I am ready to pull the trigger on this beautiful 85-1/2 9L. It really does not need anything but some paint spots in a few spots. It is nearly perfect and comes with a bunch of neat extras. Give...
Mike, what thermostat gasket do you prefer? And should there be RTV on both sides?
Do I need primer on the water pump and thermostat housing?
Thanks for your continuous help.
Chris
And would you go thru the trouble to paint the water pump....(primer coat, hot black crinkle paint)"
The FELPRO is some kind of plastic, not cardboard, and has some kind of sealant bead on both sides. Is this the preferred gasket, or the standard "cardboard" (with a thin bead of RTV sealant on both...

Here I am getting ready to replace thermostat housing, thermostat and gasket(s), and the water pump.
I have two thermostat gaskets (FELPRO w and w/o sealant). Neither are a good fit by any means.

Hey Mike...this other "so-called" SVO master says this:

Hey There
Long time no post.
When the 30 inches of snow melts and the robins come back I want to replace my water pump, thermostat (180 degrees), and a new thermostat housing. I am a little picky...
Mike, the mileage is 90,000, not 98,000. If you can change that one thing...Thanks
I can not figure out how to edit my post.
Anyway, mileage is a typo, I have just over 90,000 miles on her. Let's try and insert some more images. Also a newer picture of the engine.

Is there still source for new ball joints? I wonder if Roberto still does this?
A few years ago I suspected my ball joints wee near the end so I did the Motion Dynamics conical bushing upgrade that enabled me to upgrade to newer A-arms while keeping my stock spindles and wheels....
Brad.....is this molding still available? I need one door part, passenger side.
I think it would be a good idea to replace the window runchannels (the fuzzy things the windows slide up in).? Mine look OK but I’d atleast like to take them off rather than have them masked off....
