    Intake manifolds

A Merkur friend of mine ran across a Merkur with a modified engine (possibly not native to the car) which has an inline intake manifold rather than the square type . He was asking if it was possibly off an early SVO. I didn't know, but told him I'd ask those who might know.

All of the 1983.5-1984 Turno engines had the in-line intake. The Merkur xr4ti was first available as MY 1985 and it came only with the square intake.

It could have been swapped from a non-SVO turbo from a Mustang Turbo, Capri, T-bird of the same era (pre-1985). If it came from an SVO, and still has the original turbo, then it will have a hose outlet on the comptessor housing to mount the chanrge cooler. The non-SVO turbos came with as 2-bolt flange outlet on the compressor housing.
