    Woot! Firebird

Well, the local groupon coupon today is some instruction + lap time at Firebird at some reasonable discount.

Its funny because my car, that just left me stranded in traffic, is sitting in my driveway and I see that coupon come in.

Its not like all of a sudden I forget that my car was recently rescued from a junkyard, fixed by someone who is not qualified to be a mechanic (myself), and still rattled with issues. Its not like the idea of me screaming down their track with an instructor telling me how to carve each turn like Mr Ginsu Knives himself pierced the gloomy clouds of my dispair to herald a glorious sunny day of racing.

But it was mostly like that

I guess now I have to figure out how to make my car last for two 20 minute sessions on a windy road corse, or use the other mustang, the one that is near full throttle just to reach highway speeds but corners like a real gent.

Be careful - those activities are addictive.

Which course did you play on?

I just bought the coupon this morning. Now I'm left in that "what did I just do" stupor, wondering how I'll get my SVO ship-shape enough to play racecar. Hopefully I can get it done by April.

It didn't say which course. If I remember right, there is a road course there that can use or bypasses the 1/4 mile dragstrip?

For an additional fee you could rent one of their cars. But then you'd be in a poopy. And need to shower afterwards.

There are several configurations of the Bondurant track that can include the drag strip area. I suspect you'll be on the lake loop though, which does not use the drag strip, if you're on the main course.

Stop by and ask. They're friendly enough. Ask for a demo ride too. Just don't take your checkbook with you.

Last time I went to Firebird, it took me 4.5 hours to get to a parking spot after getting off the freeway. There were no restrooms (men's or women's) in that 4.5 hour strech of the road either (ask me how I know).
