Will an 86 SVO fuel rail fit an 84?
Will an 86 SVO fuel rail fit an 84?
The fuel rail must be specific to the intake manifold (lower) casting. The in-line uses a different fuel rail than the square.
If the 84 engine (which originally came with an in-line intake) has a square intake installed, then the later (square type) fuel rail will be a direct fit to the fuel lines, etc.
The square fuel rail will not physically install onto an in-line intake (and vice-versa) - the mounting points and injector alignment angles are different.

Darn I got offered a pretty good deal for a set of injectors a afpr and a fuel rail?
The injectors are mechanically the same size (although the flow rate and the coil impedance may differ), the FPR are interchangeable between fuel rails but the rail itself must match the proper lower intake.

Except for adjusting the pressure, it's the same as swapping FPRs.
Take off the upper intake and TB. Best to take the fuel rail off the intake, you can leave the fuel hoses attached if desired - Bleed rail pressure FIRST!
Then take the three bolts/screws off the botom of the rail that mount the FPR. Some use hex head, some Allen head, some TORX. Some AFPRs come with new screws too.
Replace the o-ring and gasket DO NOT reuse the existing ones.
Once the new (A)FRP is bolted to the fuel rail, re-install injectors and fuel rail. Activate the fuel pump(s) - look here for how: http://www.svocop.com/forum/showthre...ull=1#post2921
Look for leaks. Fix as needed.
Re-fit upper intake manifold, TB, etc.
Attach fuel pressure gauge to schraeder valve on pressure hose or on fuel rail. Turn on fuel pump(s) again. Set pressure to desired value. Switch off fuel pump(s). Wait ten minutes. If pressure drops more than 15 PSIG, there is a leak somewhere. Fix all leaks.
Remove pressure gauge.
Drive.
