    Hi from S. Carolina!

How’s it going! I’m new to the SVO game. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an 84 that was on its way to the scrap heap, but in great condition. The previous owner had plans to fix it up for his son, but fell on some bad times and it ended up sitting in his garage for almost 10 years. The big issue…the owner before him, supposedly got caught messing around on his wife, and her pay back was to snip every wire she could under the hood. I’ve never tackled a job like this, but with a little patience and some help from you guys, I’m hoping to have a clean (and running) SVO to give my Dad. He’s always wanted one, and I already have an 04 Mach 1 that doesn’t get driven enough, so I know he’ll put it to use more than I can. I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome! Start with a wiring harness from an '88 TurboCoupe. '84 wiring was crap anyway!

I've already went ahead and ordered a new Ron Francis harness from Summit Racing. Hopefully it will do the trick. Anyone have any experience with this product?

No direct experience, but I have heard good things with their products, hopefully you will have good luck as well. Certainly a different approach of giving a car to your Dad, usually the other way around. Good luck and look forward to seeing some pics.

For some reason your linked pics are not displaying from imageshack. I will attempt to d/load and embed them later today, if I remember.

Thank you for fixing those pics! I don't usually spend much time on forums.

    Yeah. Famous last words.

That will change now that you're an SVO owner. Welcome to the madness.

The fan control relay was prone to go bad. Check for a blown head gasket with a radiator pressure tester. Take a good look at the aux gear ( take it out) and the drive gear on the distributor. Plan on replacing the rusted gas tank. You will need to do searches here for each section of the car. You're lucky the people here have figured most of the SVO out. There's a lot to these cars. Hang in there.

Welcome to the SVOCOP! Thank you for posting pics, we didn't want to have to ban you after your first post :-)

Looks like a nice project! Let us know how that harness works out, as I'm sure there are others that would be interested in buying one.
There's nothing more to see here, now move along...

Thanks for the heads up. Checked out the aux gear and its a goner. Waiting on a new Esslinger setup to arrive, so I can swap it in. Glad I actually pulled the gear out, cause from the distributor location, the gear looked good. Not the case for the other half of the aux gear though.
