Do you really need the NOS dryer? If you are planning on putting it to use, you should look at the exact replacement that Eaton makes. Using a NOS dryer might be ok if you know for sure it was always sealed & properly stored over its shelf life.

    Ray,
It works just fine using Google Chrome & IE11. Maybe they banned it in CA ;-)

You could also just call the phone number I posted.

You can also get your original rebuilt. I think Classic Auto Air will do it for about $100.

Step 1. Determine how much oil the system needs. A good manual will tell you how much oil to use for each componet replaced. Use the right oil for the freon you plan to use.

Step 2. Pump out the system to 30" lbs of vacuum for about 1 hour. Isolate it and monitor for leak up for another hour.

Step 3. Install freon. You will probably need to jumper the low pressure switch to get the compressor to keep running. Fill it with the engine running until the vent temp reaches 32-35 degrees. Note: on a hot day it might not get that low in temp unless you are running at freeway speeds and have some airflow

    Question

Thats the grey area Ford dealer says 8 to ten ounces but where does it go into, from my under standing it has to be shared in each component in the system, my Ford shop has nothing on air ?? Thanks Kevin

To figure out how much oil to add you either need to completely empty the system of all oil and add the total maount or just add oil for the individual items that were replaced (except the compressor - they usually come with oil).

Since it's probably 30+ year oil oil, I'd say to go with the first option: remove all the current oil, flush the system, install new oil.

BTW - the stock system holds 40 ounces of R12. No more.

    Party On, Garth!

BTW - "Ice Cold Air" in Canada has an entirely different meaning than it does here in Southern Arizona. Over the past two weeks (rain days included) we've just managed to pass from the Hot Season into the Not-Hot Season (where temps get below 100). Eventually we'll have a few days of "Cold" - not to be confused with "Canada Cold" - then back to hot again.
