    2016 Sturgis Mustang Rally

    Starting a thread for the 2016 Mustang Rally....figure you guys would get a kick out of some of the chatter around our house....
    Me: Which car are we going to take this year?
    Stacey: The '84, I don't want to drive this year. Are you going to put the big engine in the '84 for Sturgis?
    Me: I'll try.
    Last week I ordered an updated SDS box that includes data logging to a PC (time to step into the 21st century).
    Today I cleaned out the part of the garage that had the stroked short block and head in it and snapped a few pictures.;

    Nice!! How much stroke? Are you gonna do the dyno pull at Sturgis?

    It will be a 2.5L (corrected after unwrapping the block and measuring bore and stroke). Hmmm, hadn't thought about that. I guess I need to pre-register this year and sign up for the driving school too. How is your car coming along?

    Nice and shinny! If that were in my garage it wouldn't have been out of the car for long! What cam is in it? Not familiar with the SDS box is it like a Mega squirt?

    It has Boport 2.5 cam in it (if anybody knows the cam specs, please forward them to me). The SDS is a replacement for the factory ECU.

    I know they have .522 lift beyond that Bo didn't let anything out. Glad its a roller cam so there is no break in at any rate. If you have to tune your SDS with a new slider that could be bad.

    Dave,

    Are you putting in the shiny new engine to score a few more points in the car show, or are you going to drive the wheels off that car and get an Autocross plaque this year! Just Kidding, just need something to push me over the edge to make it this year, if you were to do the Autocross that might just do it!!

    Well, not so much. With getting the house sold and huge time demands at work, I got no work done on it since Sturgis 2014, and driven probably less than 200 miles since then. I have 2.5L stroker short block ready to be assembled at my nephew's shop, just have to get time to get it done. Also have plans to get a MM torque arm installed this year, and PIMP ecm / bigger injectors on the shelf so I can get more out of E85 conversion.

    Sound like you both have lofty goals between now and Labor day. Did you find a new house? As for the dyno pulls looks like everyone is out of my league.

    As much as I would love to get into getting the car ready, I have some rather large projects I'm taking on that are requiring way too much of my time.
