    Hatch Hinge Pins Replacement Parts

Hi, The hatch on the SVO is not lining up with the roof line. Body shop will do their best to make adjustments to line up. If it cannot be lined up by adjustments, are there kits available to replace worn parts just like with the doors such as door hinge pins?

    Thanks

Good question. Somewhere I have lots of pics of my hatch being off while at the paint shop. Iirc they unbolted one side of the hinge.

Don't recall seeing pin/pivot service kits [while having never looked] but it's an extremely common part so there's probably something available.

When I replaced my hatch, there were shims under the hatch hinge for alignment.

During the resto of my current project (82 GT), I had to deal with very "loose" hatch hinges / pins. Here's my red-neck solution:

    1986 1C SVO ~ 1986 GT vert

That seems a like a sound solution.

    Thanks

I would think there is a hinge pin out there somewhere that will fix that.
You might have to look outside the normal sources that's all.

The local hardware store actually had the correct diameter hinge pins, but they were quite a bit longer. So the stainless screw / nylock nut seemed to be a better option.

Hacksaw or lathe and drill press will shorten and cotter-pin-ize the longer ones.

Solid shank will last MUCH longer than a threaded shaft.

Okay, so I went ahead and ordered a set of hatch hinges from Blue Oval. (See attached images).

The ones on my car are painted same color as the car. Do they all come painted as the ones I received are not?

Replacement ones are not painted. You must paint them when installing on your car - same as replacement sheet metal.

    Those are bright CAD plated.

Is bright CAD plated good or bad?

    Yes. Good.

It's used for decorative rust/corrosion prevention. Most hardware bolts/nuts are silver or yellow cadmium plated for same reason (NOT for high-temp applications!!). To paint it (get the paints on rough surface to stick), it will need to be scuffed. Scotch Brite pads work well - same prep work as one would do for any new piece of metal getting painted.
