    86 SVO water pump

I'm in need of a 86 water pump that has the 3/4" pilot shaft diameter. Anybody got one?

Did you end up finding one? I have a 86 waterpump just not sure on the pilot shaft diameter.

Not yet. If you have one with a 3/4" pilot, let me know what you want for it.

Mike - I measure behind the pulley flange and it is a .75 pilot shaft. I think the WP might be new. I'll send you a PM and I can email you pics of it. Mike

Mike - The shaft I'm concerned about is the one the pulley mounts on. My pulley has 3/4" pilot hole.

    Mike S,
Did you have any luck finding one? I did a quick search on Rockauto and they all have the same P/N from '86 to '93.

Nope. I had a serpentine setup that I was forced to install. MIKESVO has a used one that could be rebuilt I suppose. I could also do the same with the one I removed.

Mike is it that the other pumps have a smaller dia. shaft where the pulley mounts?
and your pulley has a larger hole causing issues?
I am asking because ...what about making up a bushing to press onto the smaller dia. shaft to give it the larger .750 dia.
Not sure if this is the issue you are having

Sometimes the simple obvious solution goes overlooked....thanks Rob!

Look what I found in the hardware store today:

Here is a picture after installation. I cut the bronze bearing in half, gently filed the cut end, and it was a good, firm press fit by hand on the pump pilot shaft and also on the pulley.

    Rob,

All the shafts that are available today at your local auotparts store are turned down to 5/8". You can't use the stock SVO stuff without the bushing you describe.

Nice job Dave. That was my next step if I didn't find the pump. I had a 87 Mustang 2.3 Serp setup that was collecting dust, so I finally installed that.
