Does anyone make a MAF Conversion Kit that Plugs right In ????
I s the general concensus that this is a good idea or not so much???

    No one makes a "kit".

You select the size MAF (usually 70 or 80mm), sort out the intake air plumbing, install a temp sensor (salvage from a VAF), then need a chip ro similar to install special code that runs on a PE or LA? pEEC. Then manually calibrate the MAF table to the airflow and A/F values, injector size/parameters, etc. Then get some dyno timing to figure out the timing tables. The LA3 has double the settings compared to the PE, as far as fuel and timing table entries.

    It's a bit of work.

Most folks seem to go to a MS/PiMP SD system instead. But it's ~$900 to get started.

    Maybe, and depends on...
    1) What are your other mods (or what do you have planned?)
    2) What would be your objective for making the switch?
    3) What's your budget and can you do the conversion yourself?

Pro - you would reduce the airflow restriction of the vane air meter, more accurate/faster measurement of flow
Con - as Mike mentioned above, can be costly and complicated depending on what parts you have to acquire, your skill level, and availability to dyno tuning.
    Bad choices make great stories....!

The easiest aftermarket ECU/VAM upgrade is the Pimp. It is as close to plug and play as you are gonna get for our cars. I like mine.
