    Well that sucks....

Took the SVO for a ride today, heard a noise and noticed something that looked like an SVO outer light sliding across the road.

    Naaa, couldn't be.

Yep it was, seems whatever was holding the lens to the lamp body only lasts 34 years.

'Good' news is it was the DS.

Heading to the classified section, see you there.

You didn't go back and get it? I just re-glued a PS outer this afternoon.

It probably didn't survive too well and stopping in that location is taking your life in your hands. I went back and looked thinking maybe it was on the edge of the road but probably ended up in the tall grass.

Yep, you can bet I'll be checking my PS light. Maybe a big old hunkin piece of duct tape across it.

That sounds permanent. I was considering clear caulk/sealant thinking if it ever has to come apart, it can.

Same thing happened to me first time I drove my SVO to work. I was so proud of my new car (that indeed needed much TLC at the time) turned into the parking lot and the passenger side outer marker light fell off. I never knew it, my boss saw it in the lot and brought it to me at my desk, chip on the bottom left corner...sad sad day. I hot glued it back on and it apparently was a permanent fix.

Oh, I absolutely did thank him, by smoking his Saab... He thought his turbo Saab could hang with the SVO.
I was amazed that he knew the lens was from my car. There were a couple hundred cars in the parking lot and he never parked near me. He saw it as he was pulling into the parking lot. Also, I had no idea the rarity of that lens at the time and was upset by a chip in the corner and almost pitched it in the trash!!! doh.
