Indiana Daves 85 SVO... On the road again!

Figured my welcome post was turning into a project post, so figured I'd start a new post.
My SVO has been mostly sitting the last five years or so...
Vowed this summer to drive it an enjoy it again.

So are you driving it and enjoying it? Is it as fun as you remembered?

Just had mine out for a drive today and to me it's just pure fun. I've driven older muscle cars and newer Mustangs and they are great, but my tired old SVO is just so special. What makes these old SVO's so fun?

Just wish the roads were better so it wouldn't seem like I'm going to lose the sunroof every time I hit a bad section....

    Weather hasn't been very cooperative.
We've had a threat of severe thunderstorms with hail and possible tornados almost every day the last few weeks.
I've driven it a few times, but don't want to have to deal with hail damage on the SVO.
Would much rather risk it on my truck.
But yes... aside from the issues I've been having to deal with, it's been fun.
Have been taking it easy on it, for the most part. No big smoky burnouts yet, even though friends and coworkers have been trying to get me to do one.

Yea, weather is a factor here in PA too but not many possible tornado forecasts thank goodness (although we've had an EF2 hit not far from here a few weeks ago).

Good idea taking it easy on it, I'm doing the same. One smokey burn out with mine and I'll be shoveling up parts! My 84 is so close to 100,000 miles, I'd like to see it make it.

    Drove it to work today...
Went to start it this morning, and the stupid wipers came on again...
Unpluged the wiper motor, for now.
Took off from a stop sign, and rear view mirror fell off into my lap. Put a dab of loctite on the set screw and put it back on.
Went to take long way to work, and ended up sitting for a train, and not getting much of a joy ride. Sadface...

    So... To add to this...
Went to lunch and the rear view mirror had fallen off again...
This time taking the metal mount with it.
Sheesh. You can't make this stuff up.
Anyway... Took it up to 70 for the first time in forever.
Aside from the 3" tailpipe rattling against the frame, everything went well.
Contour fan is keeping it real cool even on this hot day.

Drive in the rain and don't look back!

Don't think my car ever ran hot with the stock fan. I did install a switch to turn the fan on since it seemed like forever for the fan to turn on. I should add a real temp gauge, some day..
