    Which Fuel Sender?

Rock Auto has three different types of fuel senders for the 85... One of them looks like it is for a carburated 5.0 (the one with the long arm).

Then there is one with a short arm, which I presume is the right one for my car (it is the early 85 with the external pump).

Then there is one with a fuel pump hanger ...

The part numbers are SUFM0[7,8,9], with a Dorman with the fuel pump hanger.

The fuel guage seems to only work with the top 1/2 of the tank. 3/4 on the guage is full, and empty is a little less than half full.

I used this one for my 85.5:

It did work, but shows overfilled when tank is newly filled up, then will goto empty quickly when tank is low. This is the 73-10 ohm sender. I believe the SVO needs a 80-20 ohm unit. I believe foxresto.com may have that one available.

NPD announced on 4-eyed-pride recently that they did a faithful (to the ohms) reproduction ... https://www.npdlink.com/product/send...9275-ca/195670

The fuel sender is common to all 83-86 efi. That means 83-85 2.3 turbo, 3.8 and 5.0 cfi 83-85 and 5.0 efi 86. E3zz something.

I just installed the one from NPD, and I can confirm that it is reading pretty true at nearly empty. Instead of being a 1/4 past empty, its only just past empty (IIRC, it reads "empty" when there is only a few gallons left).

I need to fill the tank to see what that looks like on the guage.

tiny update, it took all 15 gallons to fill up, so the E was not a bad reading. Now it goes a little past F.
