    1986 Panther Kallista

Hey all! So my new project is a 1986 Panther Kallista, which is a hand built British roadster based on Morgan styling. It's not a kit car, but is based on Ford parts from England in the era. It originally came with an N/A 2.3L Lima, and a manual transmission. Somewhere along the way, it received an AOD and landed in Florida where my dad bought it to drive to the golf course. It was my project to tinker with and drive around whenever I visited, but only so much can be done a week at a time. It hasn't run in about 5 or 6 years, so I recently towed it back to Maryland, along with a 2.3 turbo and T-5 transmission out of a 1988 Tbird Turbo Coupe Mach 1.

This is essentially as it was...

And here it is the day I brought it back to Maryland...

Here is the 2.3 Turbo engine, which I have already started stripping down...

And the 2.3 N/A engine in the car. A wiring nightmare in the engine bay....

I've been spending at least a few hours a day working on it, essentially tearing it all down. Finding out a lot of interesting things about it, including things like odd mixtures of metric and SAE hardware, and a leather belt holding the washer fluid reservoir in place. Although, I'm told that the belt may in fact be original, since it's a thing that they used to do in England apparently. The nose of the car is pretty narrow, so getting things like a new radiator, AC condenser, and intercooler may bring additional challenges. Here is the car as of yesterday morning...

    Now the fun really begins!

You are obviously a glutton for punishment and have come to the right place among like-minded folks.

    Keep us posted.

Yes sir, I really am. I rather enjoy the challenge, and the end result will be worth it. I will spend more than the car is worth, but I'll have a sweet and unique grand tourer when it's all done.

Hello all! So I have acquired a BUNCH of goodies. I'm coming down to the last few bits to research before assembly begins, and of course, have some questions. First, a bunch of pictures...

Ok, whew! First up is INJECTORS!!! I have the 35 year old 35# brown top EV1 with Jetronic plugs. For a goal of up to 300bhp, I hear these may be fine, but calculators all say upwards of 56#, and most questions answer for a strictly track car. It's not a strictly track car, so I assume a lower would be fine for a DD/GT car, but I'm just not sold on the stockers. If anything, they'd need to be completely cleaned for best flow. A matched set would be sweet. The PIMPx ECU I have is for batch fire, and can support high imp, and the harness has the Jetronic plugs already. For the potential to occasionally spirit the car for longer periods, while remaining in good DD idle, should I target somewhere in the 40#'s? Mind you, I haven't even set a boost pressure goal yet, so I still have room to go in several directions, and I'm still learning the injector sciences.

    Thanks!

You will be fine using 50-65#/hr injectors with the PiMP. Make sure it's setup for single-fire.

Low impedance injectors open and c;lose quicker, so if the PiMP can be conf'd for low imp, single-fire that is more better.

I have the same coil setup for my project, you will have to post up how easy/hard the process was.

I have some 60# injectors that are basically brand new if you are interested in them.
