    Top Dead Center

I have the head from Boport and am about ready to put it back on the block. It is set to install with piston #1 TDC firing. Sooooo, which piston is #1? The one closest to the front of the car? And how do I set it to TDC? Sorry if these are dumb questions. I'm trying to save some money and do this myself.

Piston #1 is to the front.

TDC for the pistons can be found by the key on the crankshaft (before you put the pulley on), by the crank pulley markings (if you have the cover or machined replacement), by sticking a long straw into the spark plug hole to find where it is moving up or down or at the top, among others.

TDC for the head is also keyed on the camshaft, there is a the Ebar from Esslinger for when you have fine-adjustable cam-gear and need to be absolutely accurate.

After actually looking at things, it was really pretty simple. I sort of feel like a DA now.
