Beating a Dead Horse: The Great Torque vs. Horsepower Debate

A quick comparison about engines and gears. Don't give me a hard time about where it came from either! http://www.d-series.org/forums/engin...er-debate.html

Yup he is correct....HP IS GOD! Trq makes it easy to drive but HP....rather area under the HP curve (essentially average HP) in your operational range is the true indicator of acceleration performance! No question about it! Good find. I got other examples for any non-believers out there.

And yet, with zero torque there is zero horsepower. Its simple math. :P
Enough of that, it was giving me a headache.

My prius makes 267 Ft-Lbs at zero RPM. How much HP is that?

Horsepower is how fast you are going when you hit the wall in the turn.
Torque is how far you move the wall when you hit it.
Speed is [the inverse of] how long it takes you to hit the wall in the turn.
