What does the 90-93 Mustang 2.3 use for a compressor? Has anyone tried to install the compressor and bracket with the turbo?

I'm going to drive over to Hose Wizard maybe next week. I have a good compressor. I was going to get a new accumulator and liquid line. Then go to Pull a Part and try to find a bigger condenser. Now I want them to do it with a killer system. I want to go with v-belt compressor. The only thing I don't want to do is have to take apart the dash to change the evaporator core. I did the heater core before. Not fun.

LMR no longer sells the Hose Wizards SVO conversion kit, and I fear it may just not exist anymore. Can a kit for a different fox body be adapted to work, or is that more trouble than it's worth?

My understanding is that HW is no more. The proprietor has passed away.

I met Glenn last year when I went to pick up my A/C. We talked about alot of things. He was a super nice guy and a very good mechanic. While I was there many people young and old were coming in with things from cars to tractor parts for him to repair or just to say hello. In Nam he was exposed to agent orange. A Good man I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet and talk with him. R.I.P. Glenn

Well this definitely sucks to lose another supporter.

Under Pressure, is there any part numbers on the compressor or anything that will help us backwards engineer these kits?

I met Glenn at the Burmingham Event in 2006. Nice fellow, helpful.

The compressors used most often are a 6-cylinder Sanyo (IIRC) - I have numbers on mine at home somewhere. The issue is all the bracketry and, depending which assortment of mounting brackets, the resulting hose configurations. The typical hose connection, -10 to -14-size fittings, go on the rear of the compressor which is very near where the turbocharger compressor inlet/hose live. Then up and over the shock tower, away from the turbo heat, to the dryer on the firewall. Tyhe Receiver/dryer and condensor are standard FOX parts.

I thought the drier/hose assembly was SVO only.

Yeah the bracketry and the hoses are the tricky parts. Last time I talked to Glenn he was saying he was going to be turning the operation of Hose Wizard to a friend. I don't know if it's completely shut down.

Might be. The one-piece dryer/hose in the kit I got was totally wrong. Needs to be a two-piece or have the fixed hose pointing in a different direction/angle. With a custom hose the v-ate dryer would work just fine.

If I can exhume this thread again...

I'd like to get the A/C working on both my 2.3Ts. The 85.5 SVO is all original except conversion to serpentine pulleys. The '84 Capri Turbo RS is using accessories from an '88 Turbo Coupe Thunderbird, also serpentine. Both cars have the HR980 compressor with conditions unknown.

Could a more modern compressor be adapted? I can make a bracket to hold a compressor.

Mike I don't know what you'll run into with the belt conversion and tbird parts. However I was lucky enough to be in contact with the last guy to buy a hose wizards kit. The part numbers for items we could verify are below.

    Svo a/c upgrade:
    Compressor's:
    > Sanden 9285 or Seltek 45021
    *must fabricate the bracket
*a idler arm and pulley must be sourced

    Condesor:
    > Spectra 7-3554

    > 4Seasons/Everco A/C Accumulator #55630
    > 4Seasons/Everco A/C Hose Assembly #55602
    * The rest would need to be made custom.

I've seen several threads now on various facebook groups saying that with the xr4ti bracket you can use the 91-93 mustang 2.3 compressor with no details. Looking at rock auto and the brackets I have I don't see how. The compressors have the bolt holes parallel to the belt while the brackets have the bolts 90 degrees from the belt. Anyone have pictures of how that would work?
