Stuff like this DOESN'T happen much in Canada because of our gun laws. Maybe that's a good thing BUT if crap hits the fan, you don't have the ability to shoot back and better be prepared to fight back with hand to hand combat. I'm used to thinking on the fly and acting accordingly. I would have NO REMORSE and NO REGRETS taking care of the problem permanently if that was needed to survive.

As you're probably aware - it's NOT the guns. Sweden and Switzerland have many more guns per person than the USA does - and 100 times less gun-related violence.

    It's the PEOPLE.

Americans are a VERY violent society. And we're damned proud of it.

at of the issue is we make excuse for people that use guns during crimes or they had a bad childhood we have no punishment for crimes really you get more time for stealing food to feed your family then robbing a bank or killing a person

i think we would be better off if all had to learn how to use and carry weapons look at the mosic today if other had of had weapons some many not have died for who knows what reason.

think back to many country before world war 2 and the push to remove weapons from the public

seem to be the same going on here

some of the stuff i agree with on large clips i see no reason if i can not kill with 2 shots i have lost my skills

i use the loads i do as i if i have to use a weapon i do not want that round going to hurt others

On a side note, I can't sent a paintball gun to Military police.

USPS will not let me ship my son's paintball guns to an APO / FPO . It is considered a weapon. I wonder if they will let me ship "parts" to him.

So many targets, so little time.

    Unhappy

I live in CT and pray for all the families involved in the latest tragedy.
My wife and I have had concealed carry permits for almost 30 years. We maintain our skills through training and practice.
I hope to God we never have to use our weapons but are ready if the need arises.
We are responsible gun owners and no one has access to them but us.

When I was in high school (1969) we had a rifle team (.22s) and used to bring our guns to school. Nobody thought anything of it.
We also said the pledge of allegiance and said a prayer every morning in home room.
If needed, differences were settled in a fist fight behind the gym, not by shooting. Typically the two combatants became friends when it was over.
    What happened???

Our country needs to seriously look at the attitudes and thinking of all our citizens to prevent these senseless acts of violence.
God help us and have mercy on our souls.

    Totally agree, Paul!
I am a CCW permit holder and gun enthusiast. I keep all my guns locked up and secure. All my family members have been trained on proper gun handling/safety.
In my senior year in HS, I took a class were we learned gun safety and were trained to shoot 30-06 & 12ga shotgun. If they even tried to offer this class in a school today, the school would be sued.

I received this email yesterday:Subject: Class of 1957 vs. Class of 2012
    HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2012

    Scenario 1:
Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack..
    1957 -
Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2012 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

    Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
    1957 -
Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2012 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.

    Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
    1957 -
Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2012 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.

    Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
    1957 -
Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman..
2012 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

    Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
    1957 -
Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock..
2012 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

    Scenario 6:
    Pedro fails high school English.
    1957 -
Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2012 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

    Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
    1957 - Ants die.
2012 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents - and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

    Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2012 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.
    Times sure have changed!

    New updates:

    http://www.dhs.gov/active-shooter-preparedness

When I was in high school (1969) we had a rifle team (.22s) and used to bring our guns to school. Nobody thought anything of it.
I bet most ids walked to/from school too. And nobody thought anything of it.

Those few days when I got a ride to school in the mornings, I almost always fell asleep in my first period History class.

its sad that amongst all concerns that we have to worry about being a shooting victim at work, school or a mall has been added! I think the problem is the bloody nose in the school yard syndrome. Now everything gets escalated, if you watch hockey the refs let them duke it out until they hit the ground otherwise the game would never carry on!

I'm a closet conspiracy theorist and that's a stretch! Sound like the old x files FEMA routine?
